Having nearly pulled off a surprise victory over local Championship side Leeds United yesterday evening Guiseley travelled to Horsfall for their second pre-season game in two days and came away with a confidence boosting 3-2 win over Bradford Park Avenue.
Nicky Wroe tested Lions keeper Ed Wilczynski early on before the Lions took the lead shortly after as Adam Boyes chase down a seemingly lost cause by the corner flag and got the better of Isaac Assenso to deliver a pinpoint cross for Michael Rankine to power home a header that gave Dan Eccles no chance.
Chris Sharp prodded home at the far post to square things just before the break but two goals from Will Wells and Devonte Morton midway through the second half put the Lions in the ascendency. The first a header from a corner, the second resulting from a Boyes shot being parried allowing the academy striker to wrap his foot around the ball from a tight angle.
Former Guiseley striker Nicky Boshell provided an accomplished finish as the clock ran down for the home side but it was nought but a consolation.
Starting line-up: Wilczynski, Bennett, Lawlor, Vidal, Wells, Abbott, Smith, Boshell, Boyes, Clee & Rankine;
2nd half subs: Jack Carney, Steve Smith, Scott Smith, Jack Atkinson and Devonte Morton for Lawlor, Vidal, Clee, Bennett & Boyes
