The Lions’ Far Eastern Tour – Great Wall of China Trek
Long time Altrincham FC supporter John Henderson, a Yorkshire volunteer with The Alzheimer’s Society, has just returned from China. A group trekked 100km along The Great Wall in 6 days to increase awareness of the work the charity does and to raise donations for this very worthy cause.
A number of Skrill North football clubs, including Guiseley AFC, were delighted to sponsor John including donating a shirt which he wore on this mission. He even managed to arrange a 7 a-side game on The Wall itself – an historical first and all in Skrill North shirts! Luckily (or not) this rucksack for goalposts footballing classic has been captured on video and can be seen here:
John and his 37 intrepid colleagues are aiming to raise £200,000 for The Alzheimer’s Society,`which works across the country including our area. Any Lions supporters who would wish to contribute £1 can do this by texting RLGX99 to 70070, or visiting www.justgiving.com/JohnSHenderson1960.
