Aireborough RUFC volunteers have teamed up with Guiseley Community Foundation to hold their first ever half term holiday camp, in a bid to encourage more children to get out and be active.
The RFU Accredited, Yeadon-based rugby union club will be holding a one-day rugby skills camp for girls and boys aged 4-16 at their home at Nunroyd Pavillion, as part of their new-found partnership.
The camp, which will run from 10am until 3pm on Thursday 21St February, will focus on teaching the children about the core values of rugby through participation in a variety of fun games and activities, as well as ball handling skills and making new friends.
Each age specific session will be led by qualified coaches and players, including RFU Community Coach Ollie Eaves and will be tailored to incorporate the individual abilities of each child.
Alongside this, coaches from the Guiseley Community Foundation- an initiative supported by Guiseley Football Club, will be running a week-long football camp during the February Half term, with a view to increasing the activity of children in the community.
Graeme Forster, chairman of Aireborough RUFC said: “We are delighted to be a partnering with Guiseley Community Foundation to deliver our first rugby camp and can’t wait to see how our joint initiative will benefit more children in the future.”
“As part of our 2020 vision, we are striving to build more links with the community and encourage more people to benefit from participating in sport, so it’s great to see that Steve and his team share the same goals.”
Steve Taylor, community development manager of Guiseley Community Foundation added: “This is a great opportunity for the Guiseley Community Foundation to build further links in the community, by working with a local sports club.
“By offering different sports we will hopefully encourage more people to get involved and create new talent and fans for each club.”
Each day session will be charged at a rate of £15 per child with a discount for a full week. To book your place please contact Gemma on 07583094867 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
