Five-star Cheltenham a cut above

The Lions were brought back down to earth following back-to-back league wins as title-chasing Cheltenham Town eased to a 5-0 at the World of Smiles Stadium.

Billy Waters got the hosts off to a strong start with the opener inside two minutes before Robert Dickie doubled the lead after nine minutes.

Mark Bower’s side steeled themselves prior to the break but Adam Lockwood’s dismissal for hauling down Danny Wright early in the second half signalled further Cheltenham pressure.

Waters added a second shortly after the hour before Jack Munns and James Rowe completed a deserved victory late on, Rob Atkinson’s injury-enforced withdrawal compounding a difficult midweek away trip for Bower’s side.

Next up is the visit of Eastleigh in the Vanarama National League.
