Five Star Academy See Off League Leaders

Guiseley Academy returned to winning ways with a comprehensive 5-2 win over National League Academy North leaders Blyth Spartans on Wednesday, writes Rachel O’Connor.

In a game played at West Riding County FA HQ at Woodlesford the young Lions defeated the previously unbeaten Spartans side, who had won all six of their league games so far this season.

This win, which saw striker Brad Wood net twice from the penalty spot to take his seasonal tally to nine goals, took Guiseley up to fourth place in the table on nine points.

Guiseley’s record this season has been something of a mixed bag with three wins and three losses but they have scored 15 goals in their six games.

Other goals against Blyth for Guiseley came from Miguel Valsau, his first of the season, Jack Mason and K’marni Miller.

Guiseley’s team was: Callum Bradbury; Kyle Burrows, Ricardo Grey (C), Sam Walters, K’marni Miller; Ben Innes (Oliver Storr), Lewin Storton, Oliwier Grzelak, Jack Mason (Ryan Berry); Miguel Valsau (Joe Priestley), Brad Wood.

This game will be played on Wednesday, November 30th, kicking-off at 2pm unless mutually agreed otherwise by the two clubs.
