We are delighted to announce the signing of Eddy Prata following a successful trial spell with the club.
After making an impression in pre-season games Portuguese winger Edson ‘Eddy’ Prata has signed for Guiseley AFC, writes Rachel O’Connor.
Prata scored in the win at Bradford Park Avenue and then figured in the win over Fleetwood Town U-23s.
Born in Portugal Prata moved to Leeds seven years ago and played in the youth set ups at both Leeds United, as an Under-13, and Bradford City, where he spent two seasons as a scholar in the Under-18s.
It was in the City Under-18s that he first met his new Guiseley teammates Jorge Sikora and Lewis Hey.
On leaving City Prata signed for Harrogate Town Under-23s and had a loan spell at Harrogate Railway.
He returned to Portugal in season 2020/21 to play for FC Moura in the AF Beja 1st Division. They are a club based near Lisbon. He played 26 games in the season.
Prata started playing football in Portugal aged ten and his favourite team is FC Porto.
He describes his game as ‘not afraid to get on the ball, good in 1 v 1 situations and very creative’ so Guiseley fans could be in for a treat.
Of his move to Guiseley Prata said: “I am indebted to a scout named Tariq who pointed me in the direction of Guiseley. He was also the man who got me my move to Harrogate Town.”
He added: “I am looking forward to playing for Guiseley. I have enjoyed training with them and I enjoyed the pre-season games. Now I want to settle in and establish myself in the team. I will work hard for that and I hope to score more goals along the way to help the team get promoted. I will really concentrate on my football, I am very excited about the new season.”
Eddy’s home, away and training kits are all available to sponsor.
