Dudley at the double as Lions win

Anthony Dudley marked his first appearance in a Guiseley shirt with a well-taken brace as the Lions beat Welling united 2-0 at Nethermoor on Saturday.

Dudley arrived on a one-month loan from Bury on Friday and made an immediate impact as Mark Bower’s side gained revenge for their narrow defeat in the reverse fixture on the opening day of the season.

The 19-year-old collected a pass from Ryan Toulson nine minutes into his debut before putting the hosts ahead from a tight angle.

And when Welling failed to deal with a searching Gavin Rothery pass, Dudley was on hand to double the Lions’ lead two minutes before the break.

Bower’s men then saw the result out with relative comfort, ensuring a first win and a first clean sheet since the victory at Braintree Town a month ago.
