For the second successive Saturday, Guiseley produced a stuttering home performance and paid the price as Gloucester City returned home from Nethermoor 4-1 victors.

The visitors took full advantage of some slipshod defending to rattle in four goals, while the home side’s sole reply came from the penalty spot.

The early signs looked good for Guiseley as Mike Green foiled Nicky Boshell and Oli Johnson in quick succession while Adam Boyes also went close, robbing Matt Williams before lobbing his effort just over the crossbar.

Having already had a goal wiped out by an offside flag, Scott Wilson gave the visitors the lead on 40 minutes, although his shot looked to take a deflection of a defender’s boot as it looped over Steve Dickinson’s head.

The Lions managed to get themselves level three minutes into the second half through Nicky Boshell’s spot kick after Johnson had been tripped.

However, the visitors were back in front just six minutes later when the unmarked Charlie Griffin stooped to head home Billy Jones’s deep cross at the far post.

Worse was to follow for the home side as a City corner was floated in for Matt Williams to power home a header before Chris Jones skipped past two half-hearted challenges to beat Dickinson with a sweet shot from twenty yards.
