We can confirm the signing of midfielder Danny Boshell, who has also been appointed as assistant manager.
Boshell, who made close to 100 appearances for Guiseley between 2010-2013, rejoins the club from Altrincham. While at Moss Lane he made 17 appearances and tasted defeated only once, against last season’s eventual champions Chester.
In signing Boshell, manager Mark Bower adds further experience to the squad and a new voice on the training pitch.
Speaking to Altrincham’s website, Danny explained how the return to Nethermoor came about:
“It came completely out of the blue, to be honest. Mark Bower is one of my best friends and lives about 100 yards away, but I still didn’t see it coming.
“He just sounded me out and asked what my thoughts would be about going there as player-assistant manager. I have to say, it led to a lot of soul-searching. But the more I thought about it, the more it seemed an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”
He also explained how the offer of a first step into coaching made the offer to rejoin Guiseley too good to refuse.
“I’ve only just turned 32, and I still feel fit. I’ve still got a couple of years left in me as a player and have no intention of hanging up my boots until I have to. But at this stage of my career, coaching is an obvious next step. I love the game and want to stay involved, so this really does represent the best of both worlds.”
Danny takes up his post on Tuesday and will be available for selection as soon as transfer clearance has been received from the Conference.
The club would like to welcome Danny back to Nethermoor and wish him all the best in his new role.
