Following Tuesday night’s late postponement at AFC Fylde Paul Cox led a training session nearby the new Mill Farm complex ahead of Saturday’s visit from Sutton United, kick-off is at 3pm.
Last time out in the league we gave away a two goal lead in a 3-2 defeat at Dagenham and Redbridge on Saturday, the third game on the spin where we finished with 10 men when Rowan Liburd was withdrawn after picking up an injury and all three subs had been used.
Sutton have had a good start to the season and sit fourth in the Vanarama National League table but did lose 1-0 to Torquay United at Gander Green Lane on Tuesday night.
We caught up with boss Paul Cox following Tuesday’s postponement and he was keen that the training session gets his players in the right frame of mind ahead of Saturday’s match.
“We have got to keep the lads ticking on, make sure their fitness levels are topped up and we’re doing right by them. We’re building into Saturday which is another big game.”
“It’s one we will focus and work hard on and go and try and win a very important game for us.”
Speaking about the visitors Cox said “They’re flying, they’ve had a great season up to now, it is one of a number of tough games we have had to play and ones we are yet to play in.”
Paul also looked back at the last few weeks “You have to look at both scenarios, we have played two games with more or less 10 men for 90 minutes against two good sides. We’ve gone away on Saturday and played a team with the best home record in the league, we got out of the blocks for 20 minutes and did really, really well but probably the Saturday and Tuesday caught up with us.”
“We are going to have to use the training session in a proper way and make sure we get the best out of the players for what will be a very important game on Saturday.”
