Cox Looking For Consistency

Match sponsored by Craven Lambskins

Paul Cox picked up his first win as Lions boss last weekend and is now looking for consistency from his side when Solihull Moors visit Nethermoor on Saturday with kick-off at 3pm.

The 6-0 win over Shildon in the Emirates FA Cup came after goals from Andy Haworth, a John Rooney penalty and two a piece for Mike Fondop and Will Hatfield.

The visitors meanwhile drew 1-1 at home to Ossett Town on Saturday but won 2-1 in the replay on Tuesday night despite late pressure from The Reds.

The Moors sit one place below ourselves in the league table and new boss Richard Money will take charge of his fourth game this weekend.

Following Saturday’s win Paul Cox said “The longer the game went on, fitness levels ultimately told, the turning point was the penalty and the sending off which really opened the game up.”

“Credit to our players who were brave enough to take the game forward again which is what I want. I believe in keeping clean sheets but we’ve got to go and score goals.”

Paul was happy with his squad’s display “I can’t ask anything else of the players, they were excellent. I’m over the moon for the football club but the hard work starts now.”

“We have built some solid foundations in our overall performance, the league is our priority now.”

The boss also hinted at further signings this week “There will be more players coming in, I am going to keep strengthening because we have achieved nothing yet.”

“We are still missing some ingredients to the squad which might be helped when we get one or two back from injury. The injuries we have got are horrible, we’re talking 3-6 weeks away and I can’t hang around and wait for people to get fit. The board and the chairman want to be proactive in strengthening too.”

He did add striker Rowan Liburd on Wednesday to his selection list ahead of the visit from Solihull Moors.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s fixture the boss said “I think the next one or two months is full of big games, the win against Shildon will give us great confidence in the final third. The win can only be positive going into these games, we’ve got to have a really tough mentality going forward.”

“We want to win the next two or three and start talking about consistency.”

Tickets are available to buy online or at the turnstiles.

Club Classic tickets are also available to purchase for this fixture, in this package you enjoy a pre-match three course meal.
