Community section assists in Activity Week

Last week our Community arm was involved as Aireborough Extended Services held their popular activity week, which takes place every Easter and summer at Guiseley School .

More than 200 children attended activites including multi-sports, rock school, Create Club, Jackson Musical and more.

The week was the best ever due to a special team of volunteers. 21 young people aged between 12 and 19 gave up their time to support the children in the activites. The young people were from Guiseley School, Benton Park and St Mary’s Menston, and their commitment, conduct and enthusiasm were amazing.

Highlights: Many of them helped out on the 2 Wheels 2 Cycling, a session to teach children to ride on two wheels. Working one-to-one the volunteers, under the direction of Richard Taylor from Active Sports, managed to get 18 children out of 24 riding on two wheels.

Out of the 21 volunteers, 12 have managed to gain their Bronze Volunteering award of 25 hours. Certificates and t-shirts will be presented at school next week.

The volunteer programme is a partnership between Aireborough Extended Services, Guiseley AFC Community and the StreetGames Co-operative volunteer project. It was part-funded by the Football Conference Trust, the PFA and the Premier League.
