Guiseley Community Foundation start their Easter Camps next week, find out what they have been up to this week with their newsletter.
Co-op Local Community Fund
Until 23rd October, Guiseley Community Foundation is participating in the Co-op Local Community Fund. Co-op members can select the Foundation to help support every time they shop!
The more members that select our foundation and shop with the Co-op, the more funding we will receive. You can become a Co-op member and begin to support us by joining online at coop.co.uk/membership or by downloading the Co-op app. Membership is only £1, and every time you shop at the Co-op and have your membership scanned, a small percentage of the cost comes to us.
Not only does the Foundation receive funding as a result of your Co-op membership, members also get money back on what they spend! There is still lots of funding available for the Foundation to receive, as long as more members are choosing the Foundation as their local cause to support. This funding will help support our work in local communities.
Thank You PC Sports
Guiseley Community Foundation would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to PC Sports of Yeadon for supplying our drawstring bags. We are proud to shop locally and help support small businesses.
Interview: Pete Gable
What is your role within the Community Foundation? What does this involve?
“I am a trustee of the Community Foundation and as such I get involved with any decision making to ensure the Foundation is run in a way that complies with the charity’s governing document and the law. I generally don’t have any involvement in the day to day running of the Foundation but I do offer any advice and guidance when asked.”
How long have you been associated with the Community Foundation?
“I was first ‘volunteered’ to be a trustee by Phil Rogerson in August 2017. There was no hesitation on my part to be associated with the Foundation. As the President of the now defunct Guiseley Lions International, I had previously worked closely with Guiseley AFC with their role in the community of Guiseley and so it made a lot of sense to continue to further the community spirit with the new Foundation.”
How much has the Foundation and its work changed since you first became involved with it?
“Wow. It’s changed so much, where do you start? Well, just take a look at the weekly newsletters…there is always something going on. Steve and his team work really hard at everything they do, organising football camps, fund raising, and a wide variety of community events.”
What is your favourite part about being involved with the Foundation?
“The Beer Festival. Yes, definitely the Beer Festival. What better way to raise funds than by drinking beer? Carrying on the tradition started by Guiseley Lions International, the Foundation successfully took over the running of the Beer Festival in 2019 raising over £4,000. The pandemic curtailed the event in 2020 but I am looking forward to working with the Foundation as soon as the restrictions are lifted and help organising the next Beer Festival.”
