Thank You!

Everyone at Guiseley Community Foundation would like to say ‘Thank You!’ to everyone who donated to our seventh food bank initiative. All donations were very much appreciated, and will massively support local individuals, children and families during this tough festive period. These donations will be shared between Aireborough Children’s Centre, Otley Food Bank, Rawdon Food Bank and Hidden Homeless. Thank you in particular to members of the Guiseley AFC first team, Guiseley AFC supporters, Eat Art Venue of Guiseley and Guiseley Morrisons who took time to donate last Saturday afternoon.

Christmas Toy Appeal

There is still plenty of time to donate to our very first Christmas Toy Appeal. Until December 12th, there will be a donation point in Guiseley Morrisons where toys can be donated. We ask that gifts should be new, unwrapped and suitable for children aged 0-16 years. Thank you to Guiseley Morrisons Community Champions Sharron and Kath for offering to provide the donation point, which can be found just in front of the self-service tills. All toys will be donated to children in our local communities via Aireborough Children’s Centre and other professionals.

Premier League Charitable Fund Anniversary

This week marks 10 years since the Premier League Charitable Fund was founded. This has since led to the Premier League Primary Stars programme, which uses the appeal of professional football clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills. We are very proud to be part of this programme, working with staff and pupils from Yeadon Westfield Juniors, Guiseley Primary and Queensway schools. One particular success story to come from the programme is a Year 5 pupil at Yeadon Westfield, who has been inspired to increase his participation in sport, and has therefore been able to address confidence and begin to enjoy PE again!

Sports Leaders

Guiseley Community Foundation has been and is delivering Sports Leaders level 1, 2 and 3 qualifications in a range of organisations. These include Wetherby Young Offenders Institute and the Pennington Centre. The courses ensure that young people are equipped with transferable skills, such as team work and communication, which are recognised by employers as well as universities. They also help to improve motivation and self-esteem for young people, and the qualifications are a great starting point for young people starting out on their coaching journey.
