Community Foundation Newsletter 9th July 2021

Guiseley Community Foundation are ramping up preparations for the summer football camps, read all of their latest news here.

Summer Holiday Camps

Spaces on our holiday football camps are filling up quickly. Email alison.leigh.gcf@gmail.com to secure a place on either our Nethermoor football camps, or our girls-only football camps.

The Nethermoor camps are being held every week day throughout the summer holiday, apart from Monday 30th August. Boys and girls aged 6-14 are welcome.

The cost of one day is £15, or £50 for a week, with discounts available for those who book multiple weeks. Our girls-only football camps are taking place on 28th July, 29th and 30th at Yeadon Westfield Junior School.

Again, spaces are filling up, so email alison.leigh.gcf@gmail.com to avoid missing out on a space. One session costs £15, or the cost of all three sessions is only £30. Further details of both these camps can be found on our social media pages.

Playmaker Award Progress

The Foundation is making good progress with the Playmaker Award scheme in both Yeadon Westfield Junior School and Guiseley Primary. Over a number of sessions, delivered by coaches Olivia and Anna, students will learn basic and transferrable leadership skills, allowing their confidence to grow. By the end of the summer term, a large number of students will have completed the award, and will be presented with certificates to recognise their achievements.

Guiseley Primary Achieve Bronze Award

Last week Guiseley Primary achieved Bronze Award as part of their Eco Schools project. The school had met all the criteria for the Bronze Award, which included forming an Eco Committee, completing an environmental review, and creating an action plan. Community Coach Marcus was very pleased to inform the Committee of their success this week. Work has begun on taking action within the school to make it more sustainable, including two litter picks already. It is hoped that the school may achieve Silver Award status before the summer holidays.

Jordan Sinnott Charity Game

Tickets are now available for the Jordan Sinnott Foundation Trust’s first charity football game. The game kicks off at 1pm on Sunday August 15th at Nethermoor Park.
