Busy Summer Ahead
The Foundation has a very busy Summer ahead, with many different camps planned that are now taking bookings. As always, our hugely-popular Soccer Camps will be taking place. In each week of the Summer holidays, the Camps will take place every day from Monday-Friday, from 10am until 3pm.
The cost of 1 day is £15, but discounts are available when booking for more than one day. For example, the cost of a whole week is only £50, or £40 for the last week of the holidays, as the camp is only running Tuesday-Friday in this week.
Discounts are also available when booking multiple weeks. Email alison.leigh.gcf@gmail.com to secure a place on the camp.
The Foundation is also running Girls Soccer Camps at Yeadon Westfield Junior School, these will take place on July 28th, 29th and 30th. Each day will last from 10am until 3pm. Each session costs £15, or £30 for all three sessions.
Again, email alison.leigh.gcf@gmail.com to book. Whilst these sessions are exclusively for girls aged 6-12, girls can attend our other Soccer Camps at Nethermoor Park also.
Foundation Chair’s Charity Walk
Last weekend the Foundation’s Chair, Phil Rogerson, completed a 27-mile figure-of-8 walk in Devon. Phil’s walk helped to raise funds for Future Pillars Zambia, a charity that is raising funds to build a new school. Everyone at the Foundation would like to say ‘Well Done’ to Phil for completing the walk! To donate to this cause click here.
Eco Schools Update
Both Queensway School and Guiseley Primary are very close to achieving Bronze Award status on their journey to Eco School status.
In both schools, Community Coach Marcus has helped to set up an Eco Committee, who have then completed an environmental review.
Based on this review of their schools, each committee created an action plan based on three topics of their choice.
At Guiseley Primary, the Committee decided to focus their work on the topics of Marine, Energy and Litter, whilst Queensway’s Committee decided to focus on Water, Transport and Litter. Once both schools have informed the rest of the school of the work they have completed so far, both schools can then apply for Bronze Award status.
Givto Donations
Givto is a platform where members can donate to a different charity each month with one simple direct debit. Each month, those who have signed up to donate can choose one of three charities to donate to that month. In July, members can choose to support Guiseley Community Foundation.
Any donation through Givto will help support the Foundation to continue our work in local communities. Givto is a brand-new charity itself, so they have started with a pilot scheme in Yorkshire, with the hope of expanding to help charities elsewhere in the country.
