Guiseley ensured their place in the second round of the FA Trophy on Tuesday after earning a 3-2 win in their replay against Burscough following another tricky encounter.
The Lions were behind early on when Liam Caddick opened the scoring with a fine strike although Gavin Rothery levelled matters from the penalty spot soon after, following a foul on Nicky Boshell in the area.
Rothery was again instrumental in the second, as the Lions went ahead in fortuitous fashion as Matty Devine inadvertently turned home Guiseley’s second.
Boshell gave Mark Bower’s side a two-goal cushion at the break with an acrobatic effort but the visitors showed why they are flying high in the Evo-Stik First Division North as they battled back in the second half to reduce the arrears and give the Lions some difficult moments at Nethermoor.
But Bower’s men did enough to ensure their place in the second round and will travel to Dulwich Hamlet on January, 16th.
