Guiseley AFC has launched a Pay It Forward campaign to try and recoup some of the income lost during the Covid-19 outbreak. The fundraising campaign will also see match tickets donated to key workers.
The funds raised will help the club to continue to operate in the short term whilst the country deals with the greater issues caused by the outbreak.
The club has been grateful to everyone who has already contributed to the club’s fundraising efforts so far, both individuals and the various arms of the club with the Supporters’ Club donating their share of the 50/50 Draw money, the Academy having raised money and the Pitch Square Draw donating its funds.
The Pay It Forward campaign will be run via a Crowdfunder site with Crowdfunder offering their platform free of charge to allow Guiseley AFC to pre-sell a variety of offers for cash now with the promise of a redeem at a later date when football returns to Nethermoor. All these offers can be viewed here.
The club’s Operations Manager, Trudi Hannaford’ said: “The experiences and commercial opportunities on offer are to replace the income we have lost since football was, quite rightly, halted. We hope that some of our fantastic fans will be able to support this initiative and we are also hoping that fans of other clubs may engage with us and perhaps purchase a discounted ticket to one of our home matches. The monies collected during this campaign will allow the club to pay its creditors and continue operating until football can return.”
“As a club we wish to express our gratitude to the many key workers who have kept on working on behalf of the country. As a reward for them for every £100 we raise with this campaign we will donate an adult match ticket for the 2020/21 season.”
Club Chairman Gary Douglas said: “Whilst the prospect of returning to normal life, including football, may seem a long way away businesses are having to deal with the here and now, including cash flow. If we as a club can help in any way, then we must. I would urge all our fans, including those who may only visit Nethermoor once a season, to commit to Pay It Forward. Let us show what a great community spirit there is in Guiseley exemplified by the exceptional work carried out offered by Guiseley Community Foundation which can be found here.”
We hope you are all keeping safe and well and following the Government’s guidelines to help our NHS overcome the pandemic as swiftly as possible.
