Club Statement: Fire damage at Nethermoor

Damage was caused by fire to buildings at Nethermoor Park, late on Tuesday night.

A member of the public alerted the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service to smoke emitting from one of the turnstiles in the football ground.

The fire, which was deemed to have been started deliberately, was quickly dealt with but there was smoke and water damage which is currently being dealt with.

General Manager Adie Towers said: “The Football Club would like to thank the member of the public who alerted the emergency services and thank the Fire Service for their swift response to the incident, which prevented the fire spreading to the changing rooms and clubhouse and causing more extensive damage.

“We would also like to thank Richard McGrath, from our neighbours Guiseley Cricket Club for his assistance.”

The Academy match against Hyde today (Wednesday) has been postponed, as has the Vixens’ match against Hull City Ladies FC on Sunday (5th February).

Towers added: “Our next home game in the Vanarama National League against Eastleigh on Saturday 11th February will go ahead – it will be business as usual.”
