Guiseley AFC can confirm that, following a requirement issued by FIFA, our final league fixture of the season will take place at Nethermoor Park on Saturday 25th April, with a scheduled kick‑off time aligned with all other matches on the final day.
FIFA has determined that the fixture against Widnes must be fulfilled to ensure what it describes as a fair and consistent playing field for all member clubs during a decisive round of matches. While Guiseley AFC has formally protested this requirement, our avenues for challenge have now been exhausted.
FIFA has acknowledged that Widnes FC have folded and are therefore unable to participate. However, under the governing body’s competition integrity regulations, all clubs are required to complete their fixtures simultaneously on the final day, regardless of circumstances. This situation is not without precedent: the 1996 World Cup qualifier between Estonia and Scotland proceeded under comparable conditions and was resolved appropriately within the laws of the game.
To recognise the unusual nature of the occasion, ticket prices for the match will be reduced by 50%, reflecting that only one team will be present. The club bar will be open, and we welcome supporters to join us as we bring the season to a close in the company of our community.
Guiseley AFC also invites expressions of interest from any parties wishing to take up match sponsorship opportunities for this fixture.
The club remains grateful for the continued backing of our supporters and partners throughout this challenging period.
