Club to hold food bank collection

The club are pleased to announce it will be holding another food bank collection in aid of Otley Food Bank at our home game against Bromley on Saturday, November 29th.

The club’s Community Foundation helped organise two such collections last season and, with the help of players and supporters, we managed to put together more than 20 boxes of food for the cause, which helped over 50 vulnerable households.

With Christmas on its way, we ask that if you have any food you can spare and wish to help out, please get involved with what is a truly worthy cause in the local area.

Collection points will be available within the ground on both days for those able to help.

In particular, the following foods and goods are required: Tea, Coffee, Tinned Fruit, Vegetables and particularly Tinned Potatoes, Biscuits, Toilet Paper, Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Longlife Milk, Fruit Juice and Cereals.

Otley Food Bank helps individuals, couples and families in the local region without enough money to buy food, often due to one or more of the following:

– Unexpected expenses on low income

– Reductions in Benefits or delays in their payment

– Self-employed and not getting paid for work

– Victim of violence / theft

– Family break-up

– Job loss

The Food Bank provides emergency parcels of three days’ food, normally up to three times in a crisis with people gaining food through partner agencies such as the Citizens Advice Bureau, Otley Children’s Centre, Leeds City Council One Stop Centres, Otley Action for Older People, Social Workers, District Nurses, Health Visitors, Schools, GPs, Local Churches and other participating community agencies.
