Match Sponsored by Blacks Solicitors
Tuesday night sees the new Management Team of Marcus Bignot, Russ O’Neill and Paul Clayton take charge of their first competitive match at Nethermoor as Chorley make the trip to LS20 for a 7:45pm kick-off.
Saturday’s season opener ended in defeat for The Lions as Boston scored the only goal of the game in the second half.
Chorley however got off to a winning start beating York City 1-0 at Victory Park thanks to an Adam Blakeman strike after 35 minutes.
The Magpies include former Lion Josh Wilson in their squad and also have a new manager in charge in Jamie Vermiglio after Matt Jansen’s surprise departure in the summer.
It is just the second time we have faced Chorley since our clash in the 2014/15 Vanarama Conference North Promotion Final.
The memorable game saw The Lions come back from 2-0 down in the second half to propel the club to the Vanarama National League for the first ever time.
The last time the two sides played each other was on 10th December 2016 when Michael Rankine’s header sealed our progress to the Buildbase FA Trophy Second Round.
Marcus Bignot is happy with the player recruitment in the close season which was added to by Jack Dyche’s arrival on Saturday: “The side has a new look and I’m delighted with the balance we have. It’s only a small squad because of our tight budget but there are still options and competition for places.”
“The supporters didn’t have a lot to cheer last season but they still always came out and backed the club. They will be full of optimism this year as well.”
“We want to put in good performances although ultimately it’s winning games that will send the supporters home happy, which is what we want to do.”
