The Lions return to Nethermoor on Boxing Day for the visit of Farsley Celtic, stay in the warmth and get your football fix with our FREE livestream!
The game will kick-off at 3pm with the stream going live from 2:45pm.
As fans are still not able to attend we want to make our matches as accessible as we can, we would encourage anyone to “pay what it’s worth” via our Crowdfunder page to help cover our matchday costs, donate here.
We are still incurring matchday running costs of around £800 per home game and whilst we’re still awaiting the details of the government’s financial package, we would ideally like to see these covered to help keep the free livestreams running.
Any funds raised in excess of this figure will be put towards purchasing upgraded equipment for our excellent Guiseley Radio team, who voluntarily provide match commentary at all games home and away.
Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel to be the first to hear about our latest video uploads!
It will be The Lions’ last home game of 2020 and unfortunately the latest in a string of fixtures at Nethermoor to be played behind closed doors. With Boxing Day football being a long standing tradition and a West Yorkshire derby taking place there’s no better way to spend your Saturday afternoon than watching our FREE livestream.
Marcus Bignot and Russ O’Neill’s side won back to back games over Southport and Chorley before the Buildbase FA Trophy defeat at Stockport County on Saturday.
Farsley also exited the Buildbase FA Trophy at Solihull Moors on Saturday with a 4-0 defeat to the Vanarama National League side, they have however enjoyed good form in the league with an unbeaten run stretching back to 14th November.
Since then they have drawn to Kidderminster Harriers and Chester at The Citadel before winning away at Gloucester City and Southport. A home win over AFC Telford United followed before knocking Gateshead out of the Buildbase FA Trophy on the road.
Farsley name former Lions Steven Drench, Danny Ellis, Kingsley James, Jake Charles, Dave Syers, Luke Parkin and Mark Bett in their squad.
After the defeat at Edgeley Park Marcus Bignot said “Up and until the sending off we were really happy with the way we went about things, we had a game plan and it was working. We have come in at half time with the lead and then in the second half the talking point is the penalty and the sending off which changed the course of the game completely.”
“I think it was very harsh for a double jeopardy, yes it was a penalty but to be sent off as well? The referee, credit to him, has explained the rules but there has to be a bit of common sense.”
“We have got to take a lot of confidence, we have always done well against Stockport over the years, they taught us a bit of a lesson in pre-season but we learnt from that and that was to be seen today.”
“The approach play for the goal to get into their half and retain it in transition before getting a goal from that we were really pleased with. Once we went down to ten men it could have been a cricket score if I am honest, they were absolutely excellent with their extra man.”
Looking ahead to the visit from Farsley Bignot said “You feel hard done by today, we will miss Hamza for the Boxing Day game and he has been superb for us. It has spoilt mine and Russ’ Christmas now, we will be moody around the table!”
“Farsley have lost in the Trophy today too so we will take a look at that and some of their previous games, it is a derby but it is really disappointing there are no fans there to see it.”
The West Yorkshire derby is the first of three games in seven days with a trip to Bootham Crescent to face York City on 28th December and the return fixture at The Citadel on New Year’s Day to come.
