We are delighted to announce the signings of Ashley Palmer, Javan Vidal and Danny East.
Palmer arrives from newly-promoted National League club North Ferriby United. He was a key part of the Villagers’ team, winning all three Player of the Season awards for the club during their breakthrough 2015-16 season.
Vidal, who can play a central midfielder, or at a right back, joins the club from Wrexham and has also featured for a host of league teams including Derby, Chesterfield and Rochdale. He came through the ranks at Manchester City’s academy which led to him featuring for both England U19’s and U20’s.
24 year-old East signs from Vanarama National League play-off winners Grimsby Town, having featured 25 times for the Mariners last season. Danny started his career at Hull City and has also featured for Northampton, Gillingham, Portsmouth and Aldershot playing in either the right back or central midfield position.
Manager Mark Bower told us more about the new signings:
“We’ve seen Ash play several times over the past few years for both Buxton and North Ferriby and he’s always stood out. When we initially met with him, we were impressed with his desire to play as high up the pyramid as he possibly could, so we were delighted when Ash informed us he felt Guiseley was the best place to achieve that. He has all the attributes required to be a modern day centre half and we look forward to working with him.
“Danny was part of a promotion winning side last season and I feel he’s a real coup for us. He’s predominantly a right back and that’s where we see him playing, although he can operate in several positions. As a full back he ticks all the boxes, he’s athletic, good in one-on-one situations and is a threat going forward.
“We tried to sign Javan last summer before he signed for Wrexham so I’m delighted we’ve finally been able to bring him to the club. He’s a very versatile player, but the plan is for him to play in midfield where he can utilise his pace, ability on the ball and ball-winning qualities. I think his all action playing style will be a big hit with our supporters.”
We’d like to welcome Ashley, Javan and Danny to Nethermoor and wish them the very best for the new season!
