Bower anticipates Aldershot test

After claiming a hard-earned point at Barrow in midweek, the Lions return to Nethermoor on Saturday for the visit of Aldershot Town.

Nicky Boshell’s delightful free-kick ensured Guiseley took their tally in the early stages of the Vanarama National League to seven points from four outings.

Following back-to-back wins over Altrincham and Kidderminster Harriers, Mark Bower explained: “To come from behind to get a point at Barrow is a terrific result for us.

“Plus, on the back of two home wins, you’ve got to be pleased with a point.”

Saturday’s visitors have claimed two points from their opening four games courtesy of draws against Cheltenham Town and Dover Athletic.

The Lions faced Aldershot in the FA Trophy in the 2013-14 season as the hosts ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at The EBB Stadium.

However, Bower is looking forward to his side pitting their wits against aside Barry Smith’s men.

“It’ll be another difficult one, they’re an established Football League/Conference side over the last few years,” Bower added.

“It’s going to be another difficult test so we’ll patch ourselves up on Thursday and look to go again. The lads’ fitness levels look good, they were still pushing forward in the 94th minute [at Barrow] and I think we’ve looked strong and fit over the three previous games as well.

“We’ll look forward to it and hopefully we can finish off this little spell of five games in the first two weeks with a good performance and a good result.”
