A dramatic late Sisa Tuntulwana goal helped Gainsborough Trinity defeat Guiseley 2-1, writes David Bridson.
The pacey Tuntulwana netted in the 93rd minute having opened the scoring in just the third.
George Goodman levelled for the Lions in the ninth minute.
Tuntulwana darted past Ollie Brown before nearly slotting beyond Lions goalkeeper Joe Cracknell.
Guiseley’s equaliser came courtesy of a troubling Joao Silva cross which Goodman directed in with aplomb.
An expertly-timed tackle by the Lions goalscorer denied Tuntulwana a clear run on goal just two minutes later.
With the game already wide open lively captain Lebrun Mbeka forced a scrambling save from Holy Blues ‘keeper David Robson in the 13th minute.
The tricky Mo Fadera saw his curling effort palmed away by Robson five minutes later.
A great challenge by Brown halted a 22nd minute Trinity attack.
Jordan Thewlis fired high over the bar in the 30th minute.
John Lufudu’s sparkling run was stopped by the resolute George Hornshaw two minutes later.
The Lions showed no let-up in seeking the lead.
Fadera’s low shot forced an outstretched palm away from Robson in the 34th minute.
Jake Lawlor made a splendid low headed clearance from Hornshaw’s threatening 36th minute strike.
Another trademark Lufudu dash unfortunately ended in his shot lacking power in the 43rd minute.
Harrison Beedon headed over for the hosts in first-half stoppage time as the game hung in the balance.
Guiseley were quick out of the gates – Fadera’s quality 46th minute cross narrowly missing two Lions attackers.
Thewlis played a decent pass to Fadera nine minutes later but the latter couldn’t quite unscramble his feet.
Just moments later Cracknell made a superb sprint out of his area to slide the ball away with Jonathan Margetts looming.
Harrison Hopper’s free-kick found Mbeka but the latter was unlucky to lose control of the ball via his chest in the 59th minute.
Former Lion Frank Mulhern’s 65th minute free kick marginally missed Margetts as both sides vied for victory.
Cracknell leapt high to punch Trinity substitute Harvey Sutcliffe’s 71st minute free-kick away with Tuntulwana bearing down on him.
Hopper’s shot was blocked following Lions substitute Amir Berchil’s crafty 82nd minute counter attack.
Mbeka limped off with injury in the 84th minute and was replaced by Elliot Owen.
With six minutes added on Tuntulwana struck home from a frenzied 93rd minute corner to clinch the three points.
The defeat sees Guiseley drop to 13th in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division.
The Lions are next in league action at home to third placed FC United of Manchester on Saturday 11th April with a 3pm kick-off.
