The fixtures for the upcoming Blue Square Bet North season have been announced.
The dates were released at noon today, with the campaign kicking off on Saturday 18th August when the Lions make the long trip to Histon for the season’s opener. That is followed by home games against Droylsden on Tuesday 21st and last season’s losing Play-Off Finalists Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday 25th August.
Newly-promoted and highly-fancied Chester host the Lions on Saturday 8th September before Bishop’s Stortford – another team expected to be pushing for honours – arrive at Nethermoor on Saturday 15th September, with the first local derby, against Harrogate Town, on the following Tuesday, 18th September.
The Lions come up against the other newcomers shortly afterwards, with a visit to Oxford City on Saturday 29 September, preceding a tasty home clash with Stalybridge the following week (2nd October). FC Halifax provide local opposition at Nethermoor on Saturday 3rd November, while local rivalry with Bradford Park Avenue is renewed over the festive period, at Nethermoor on Boxing Day and at Horsfall on New Year’s Day. In between, Colwyn Bay visit on Saturday 29th December.
Oxford City visit Nethermoor on Saturday 12th January and Brackley Town also head north on Saturday 2nd March. The end of that month provides two potentially-tough away games, at Stalybridge (23rd) and Gainsborough (30th) before the April run-in sees us travel to Brackley (6th). The Lions then host Chester (13th) and travel to the Shay for the penultimate game on the 20th. Hinckley provide the opposition for our final home clash on Saturday 27th April.
