Best Wishes For 2021 From Guiseley AFC

2020 has been a difficult year for many reasons but there has been some highlights for The Lions throughout.

The 2019/20 campaign was ended on a points per game basis which saw The Lions finish in 9th place, just outside the play offs, after an excellent season for Marcus Bignot and Russ O’Neill’s squad.

Highlights have included home wins over Gloucester City, Leamington, Atherton Collieries, Blyth Spartans, Matlock Town, Southport and Chorley.

Our away form shone as we went a whole calendar year unbeaten, with wins on the road at Farsley Celtic, Darlington, Goole, Harrogate Town and Spennymoor Town.

The academy also saw their season cut short but they did have a few memorable evenings in 2020 in the FA Youth Cup with wins over Emley, Sheffield and FC Halifax Town. The one that will stick in the minds though is the success over Bolton Wanderers at the University of Bolton Stadium which set up a tie at Cambridge United where the cup run came to an end.

They have also won several league games in the calendar year defeating Solihull Moors, AFC Fylde and both Alfreton Town and York City twice each.

The Community Foundation have been at the centre of the local area during the Covid-19 pandemic including delivering shopping, prescriptions and newspapers to those who were unable to leave their homes, a service which was vital to so many.

They have also organised a Food Bank Collection which was greatly supported, a Christmas Toy Appeal, held many Football Camps and much more.

2020 may have been a testing year but what has always stood strong is the support shown by our fans, you have supported our Crowdfunding appeals which have helped the club greatly when all of our income was taken away from us overnight.

Your donations for our FREE livestreams have blown us away, over £6300 has been raised so far and we are extremely grateful to everyone who has backed this with a donation as we make our football as accessible as possible whilst fans cannot attend.

Not only that but over £6600 was donated by the Supporters’ Club through various fan funded projects such as the Matchday 50/50 Cash Draw, Pitch Square Sponsorship and the raffle, without your support this donation would not be possible.

We cannot wait to have our supporters back at Nethermoor as soon as it is safe to do so but for now we’ll be continuing our FREE livestreams for home games and hope you will be tuning in.

The directors and staff at Guiseley AFC would like to wish every one of our fantastic supporters, volunteers, sponsors and players a Happy New Year and all the best for a brighter 2021!
