The Lions line up for the final pre-season friendly just four days before the start of the Vanarama National League North season when Barnsley visit Nethermoor on Tuesday night with kick-off at 7:45pm.
Admission prices have been reduced to £10 for adults, £5 for concessions/U18’s and £1 for U11’s with half price entry for all Guiseley season ticket holders.
The friendly follows a packed week of action at Nethermoor with visits from Gateshead, Bolton Wanderers and Leeds United.
The Tykes start their season at Oxford United on Saturday whilst Guiseley line up at Boston United.
After Thursday night’s defeat Tom Feaheny caught up with Joint First Team Manager Russ O’Neill who said “It was a good workout but this week in pre-season was always going to be a tough week. Playing three games in 6 days has been a tough task, Leeds were excellent, when we regroup and take stock we will look back as this being a positive week.”
The Joint Manager said that pre-season was carefully planned and there was a good reason behind two midweek games “We have put these games in to get tested, there is a lot of games in the first third of the season so we are going to need to be ready for them. The lads have given everything.”
Speaking about the 3366 crowd in attendance at Nethermoor O’Neill said “It was brilliant to see a sell-out, we are going to need it, everybody at the club has got to pull together, it was a fantastic turnout and I hope they have all been entertained and see that the players who have featured this week have given everything.”
Finally looking ahead to Tuesday’s visit of Barnsley Russ said “It will be as tough as the Leeds game, Barnsley play in a similar manner.”
Tom Feaheny also captured the thoughts of Kaine Felix following the confirmation of his signature on Friday “I am happy to be here, I am very pleased to get the deal done and keep fit over pre-season with me not having a club. The gaffer gave me a chance to come in a do a few weeks and hopefully I have impressed”
Speaking about his favourite position and style of play Felix said “I like to play on the right wing putting crosses in and chipping in with a few goals and working hard for the team. The main aspect of my game is sprinting, I hope I bring excitement to the club and hopefully people enjoy my style of play.”
He is relieved that pre-season is coming to an end after a spell without a club “It has been a tricky pre-season but I am just happy to get this deal over the line now and focus on the season. It is a nice set of boys, nice club and nice managers, the backroom staff are quality too, hopefully it is going to be a good season and I believe we can do something special.”
Kaine spent two seasons with Saturday’s opponent Boston United and knows what is required at this level “I have been in the National League North for a few seasons now, I like the league it gets tougher every season and hopefully we end up at the top of the table.”
Finally he had a message for the fans “I’d like to say thanks for having me, I just want to make the fans happy and show everyone why they have signed me and do the best I can.”
