It was a disappointing day at the office for Guiseley Vixens as they suffered a 6-0 defeat away at Huddersfield Town Ladies with goals coming from Kate Mallin, Emily Heckler, Hannah Campbell and Danielle Whitham.
Defensive errors allowed Huddersfield to start the scoring. Mallin closed down a miscontrolled ball from Cam Clarke, before charging through and putting the ball beyond Beth Davies.
Guiseley did have chances in the first half, the best coming from Debs Hastings wrong footing her marker, going through into the box but a good recovery run from Vicky Abbott saw her block the shot.
Two goals in quick succession for Heckler put the game further out of Guiseley’s grasp. Another mistake was capitalised on and Heckler drifted into to box with a similar goal to Town’s first.
Minutes later she got on the end of a loose ball which held up in the air, heading beyond the keeper’s reach.
The second half was started much brighter by the Vixens, attacking early down the right flank but the end product was missing.
Davies produced a fantastic save from close range when she got a strong hand to Heckler’s thumping effort.
Campbell got on the scoresheet in her debut game when she got on the end of a dropping ball to head it comfortably into the net, making it four to the home side.
A long range effort by Whitham evaded everyone and went all the way past Davies, dipping under the crossbar.
Moments later Charlotte Higginson got her marching orders for an apparent kick-out after a late tackle on her from behind, making the game even harder for the Vixens.
The last chance of the game came for Huddersfield. Mallin drilled a free-kick into the box where Campbell got a head to it wrong footing Davies and seeing it hit the side of the net.
There is a break from league fixtures next weekend as the Vixens take on Solihull Ladies FC in the cup.
