We are delighted to announce the extension of Joe Ackroyd’s loan from Barnsley.

The energetic midfielder has produced a string of impressive displays during his stay at Nethermoor so far earning a Man of the Match award on his Isuzu FA Trophy debut and netting a brace in the win over Whitby.

Ackroyd will now remain with The Lions until 3rd January 2023 and is eligible to face Macclesfield in the Isuzu FA Trophy first round tomorrow afternoon.

The 20 year-old has made six appearances since his arrival on 27th September and has played a key role in the current six match unbeaten run.

Danny Ellis was happy to secure an extension to the loan saying: “We are delighted to get this extended until January, it is promising that we can get him until then.”

Ackroyd added “I am here to do a job for this club, I will work my socks off for my teammates and management and I will give it everything for the time I am here.”

Joe has been with Barnsley’s academy for a decade and made his senior debut for The Tykes in the Emirates FA Cup against Barrow last season.

It is his second loan spell away from Oakwell having spent time in Czech Republic with MFK Vyskov making 13 appearances.
