Three rising stars from Guiseley AFC’s highly regarded Academy have signed first team forms to make them eligible for today’s Emirates FA Cup squad, writes Rachel O’Connor.
Seventeen year-olds Freddie Westfall, George Sebine and Max Dickinson have impressed enough to join the first team squad as it prepares to meet Ashton United in this afternoon’s First Round tie at Nethermoor (3pm kick-off).
All three played a big part in Guiseley Academy’s National League Under-19Alliance North championship win last season.
All three also figured prominently in this season’s 3-0 win over Dronfield in the FA Youth Cup.
Centre-back Westfall has plenty of senior experience having played the whole of last season for Steeton AFC in the North West Counties League on a dual registration with Guiseley.
That experience shone through as he captained the Young Lions to their win in the FA Youth Cup. He played 23 games for the Academy last season scoring three goals.
Midfielder Dickinson and striker Sebine were also prominent in that FA Youth Cup game with Sebine getting on the scoresheet.
Sebine netted 15 goals in 18 appearances for the Academy last season.
Pool-in-Wharfedale based Dickinson appeared in 21 Academy games last season and netted twice.
Other Academy players past and present who have appeared in first team squads this season are Ollie Brown and Sam Walters in league games and Jack Mason, Miguel Valsau, Oliwier Grzelak, Kyle Burrows and Foley Nkem in pre-season friendlies.
