Guiseley Academy’s U18’s travelled to Cleethorpes Town on Wednesday evening, in their competitive season opener, which happened to be the first qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup.
In difficult conditions the Young Lions proved too strong from their hard-working opponents and this resulted with a 7-0 victory with goals from Adam Haw (4) Carlos Nunes, Rafa Marques and an own goal.
The Young Lions now face local side Garforth Town who defeated Farsley Celtic in the next round. This game is scheduled for Tuesday 17th September 7.45pm at Nethermoor Park.
Dave Currie’s side are set to face FC Halifax Town on Wednesday in their opening National League Football Academy North Division fixture.
The game has been moved to an away fixture, due to essential pitch work at Nethermoor, now taking place at Huddersfield Amateur FC, Lower Edge Road, Elland, HX5 9ES, kick-off is at 2pm.
