Left-back K’Marni Miller netted twice in Guiseley Academy’s 4-1 win over Boston United a day after playing for the first team in the West Riding County Cup win over Garforth Town, writes Rachel O’Connor.
Miller is the latest of Dave Currie’s Academy squad to sign first team forms this season after catching the eye of first team manager Andy Welsh in senior training sessions.
Winger Jack Mason is another who has impressed Welsh and has had first team game time recently.
The Academy’s win over Boston at the Boddington Football Hub in Leeds puts them in seventh place in the National League Under-19 Alliance North with 14 points from eight games.
Guiseley have games in hand over all but one of the teams above them having played four less than second placed Chester and two less than leaders Farsley Celtic.
In recent months it has been a little stop start for Guiseley as far as league games go with bad weather conditions bringing a number of postponements and then Blyth Spartans unable to raise a team to travel to Nethermoor.
However, the Academy were in full flow against Boston with goals for Kyle Burrows and Oli Storr to go with Miller’s brace.
In a bid to move his game forward 16 year-old Academy defender Freddie Westfall has signed a dual registration with Steeton AFC to play senior football.
Guiseley’s team against Boston was: Callum Bradbury; Kyle Burrows, Sam Walters, Freddie Westfall, K’Marni Miller; Robbie Miller, Joe Taylor, Max Dickinson, Jack Mason; George Sebine, Denelle Godfrey. Subs: Oli Storr (Mason 45 mins), Marley Spence (Godfrey 65), Ben Innes (Burrows 70).
