We are delighted to announce the signing of Aaron Martin for his second spell with the club.
The striker first joined the Lions back in 2019 and has returned to Nethermoor following his departure from Worksop Town.
Martin’s first spell was fondly remembered as he struck 17 goals in 23 appearances following his move up the leagues from Brighouse Town.
His spell was that productive that it caught the attention of Harrogate Town and they came calling for the striker signing him on an undisclosed fee for a five figure sum.
Aaron would end the 2019/20 campaign as an EFL player as Harrogate won promotion to League Two after the play offs were delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking about his latest signing boss Ian Richards said: “Aaron needs no introduction after his blistering first spell with the club. He is a proven goalscorer, winner and competitor who will add physicality to our front line that, on occasions, we missed last season. I’m excited to work with him and achieve success together.”
Martin made the move to LS20 after hitting 30 goals in 42 appearances for Brighouse Town.
A very popular player with Brighouse he picked up the Player-of-the-Year award as well as Top Goalscorer and Player’s Player-of-the Year in his first season with them.
From the age of eight Martin was with Sheffield United before moving on to the Barnsley Academy at the age of 12 and then later returning to The Blades.
The 6ft tall Sheffield-born player, joined Staveley MW at the age of 17, spending a season there before moving on to Worksop Parramore.
Martin then spent a season at Goole AFC before moving to Sheffield FC for a five year spell before he joined Brighouse Town.
The 34 year-old spent two seasons at Harrogate Town and played with Jack Emmett as well as former Lions Joe Cracknell and Kian Harratt.
Aaron started the National League play off final at Wembley Stadium as his side went into the EFL for the first time in their history.
Whilst with Town Martin had a loan spell with FC Halifax Town before signing for Gateshead on his release by the League Two club.
After a season with the Heed the striker stayed in the north east and signed for South Shields before moving to Worksop Town where he stayed for two campaigns.
In the Tigers’ first season in the National League North for nearly 20 years Martin scored 13 goals in 33 games as his side secured a 16th place finish.
