We are delighted to announce the signing of Cam Wilson from Matlock Town for an undisclosed fee.
Cameron joins the club as our first new addition ahead of the 2026/27 campaign following 10 players from last season’s squad being retained.
The winger scored 26 goals for Matlock finishing last season as the league and NPL’s second highest scorer, a tally only topped by Adam Boyes who scored 41 times for Redcar.
The 23 year-old’s goalscoring record matched that of Gary Martin from Hebburn Town who finished the 2025/26 season as the Premier Division’s top scorer.
Speaking of his first recruit of the summer Ian Richards said: “We are excited by the signing of Cam, he is a player with huge quality and the ability to create and score goals. On both occasions we watched him live last season he was the best player on the pitch and was continually making things happen by being brave on the ball and playing forward at every opportunity. Within our environment, we believe he is only going to improve and have a positive impact this season.”
Wilson, who was born in Scunthorpe, started playing football with Goole Town Tigers before moving to sign for his home town club.
He spent 11 years with Scunthorpe United working his way through their academy set up before progressing to make his professional debut for the Iron in 2021.
In the 2021/22 campaign Wilson would go on to make seven further appearances in League Two for Scunny.
Cam impressed during his debut senior campaign and played 33 times in the National League for Scunthorpe scoring five goals in the 2022/23 season. His form attracted the attention of the England C team and he received a call up in March 2023. He then made 24 further appearances in the National League North during the following season before signing for Scarborough on loan.
Wilson had already had a loan spell with the Seadogs in 2022 where he scored seven times in 17 appearances before returning two years later to play seven times.
The move was made permanent ahead of the 2024/25 campaign following his release from Glanford Park, Wilson made 23 further appearances for Scarborough.
In February 2025 Wilson made the move to Matlock as he sought more playing time and he spent 18 months in Derbyshire before making the move to Nethermoor.
Cam’s home, away and training kits are still available to sponsor, please email james.pickles@guiseleyafc.co.uk for more information.
