25/26 Match Preview: Bamber Bridge FC

Jack Emmett secured success at Morpeth at the weekend, with Bamber Bridge next on the horizon in a rearranged clash on Tuesday evening, writes Scott Kelly.

“I am happy with the defensive performance. They deserved the clean sheet. Structurally, they couldn’t break us down. We hit them well on the break”

Manager Ian Richards was delighted with the structure of the team out of possession, citing it as the main factor for taking away the three points. There was particular praise too for goalkeeper Joe Cracknell.

“Our home form has been excellent since we have come in. We will patch up, recover on Monday and have a game plan for Tuesday to try and win the game”

Richards feels recovery is important, but his staff will get a game plan together as they hope to extend our unbeaten run at home. The new boss still hasn’t tasted defeat at Nethermoor as Guiseley boss.

“They will try and play through the middle. They like to try and get on the ball and dictate play. They are in a rich vein of form, and it will be a really good football match”

He is also under no illusions as to the threat Bamber Bridge pose, with the Brig thriving away from Lancashire.

Team News

Kyle White and Lewis Gould arrived at the club in time to make their first appearances at Morpeth, albeit from the bench. They will be pushing to start in their Nethermoor bow.

Archie Christie-Crainie had his loan from Sheffield United extended by a further month. Amir Berchil is likely to miss out along with Jamie Spencer, Will Longbottom and George Goodman.

Liam Ridehalgh has left the club by mutual consent. The full back served as interim manager prior to Ian Richards’ arrival. The club wishes Liam the best of luck in his recovery from injury and his future career.

The Opposition

Something will have to give for this midweek clash, with the Lions unbeaten in five on home soil and the visitors picking up four straight victories on the road.

Since this game was postponed on January 10th, the Brig lost at home to Warrington, before picking up a trio of victories against Hyde, Stocksbridge and once again the Yellows, without conceding in the process. They sit well amongst the play off reckoning, sitting in 6th and just three points off 5th place Warrington Rylands with two games in hand. So this game is crucial not only to their unbeaten run, but to their chances of keeping up with the chasing pack.

Ewan Bange is the clubs top goalscorer in the league with 13. Bange is no stranger to the Lions, having scored in his sides 2-0 victory on the opening day of the season. Also, a goalscorer that day, Chris Churchman, is also still part of their squad.

Now 38 years of age, Nathaniel Knight-Percival operates at centre-back following a stellar career largely spent in the EFL for the likes of Shrewsbury Town and Bradford City. Former Lions loanee Kofi Moore operates on the wing, with the likes of Olly Molloy and former FC Halifax Town striker Jamie Allen providing the options in the forward end of the pitch along with Bange.

Previous Meetings

The sides met on the opening day of the season, with Brig winning 2-0 in Lancashire. Guiseley won on their oppositions last visit to Nethermoor, winning 3-1 on New Years Day 2025, but did lose the previous meeting on this ground 1-0 in an FA Trophy qualifier.

Stretching back to 2004, the sides have met 12 times in total, with the Lions winning seven and the Brig winning five, there has not been a draw on record between the sides.
