Guiseley produced a dominant performance to secure a comprehensive 7–0 victory over Harrogate Railway Reserves, with Keegan Lambert scoring four goals in a commanding attacking display, writes Kevin Green.
Guiseley started brightly, immediately putting the visitors under pressure. Within the opening minutes, the Harrogate keeper was forced into several sharp saves, and Demrae Wisher was unlucky to see a thunderous strike cannon off the crossbar.
Despite some early pressing from Harrogate, Jade Fosters’s superb sliding tackle on four minutes prevented a dangerous counterattack. Moments later, Guiseley broke the deadlock — Heather Fisher capitalising on a goalkeeping error after a lofted ball over the top (6’).
The hosts doubled their lead five minutes later when Lambert finished neatly across goal from a short corner routine with Demi Pringle (11’). Guiseley’s attacking rhythm continued as Emily Gill’s perfectly weighted pass sent Lambert through again, who coolly slotted home for her second of the match (16’).
On 21 minutes, Freja Evans added a fourth, showing great composure to finish from another excellent Emily Gill assist. Evans had the ball in the net again but soon had it ruled out for offside, Guiseley’s pressure remained relentless. Lambert completed her hat-trick in the 33rd minute with a clinical finish, putting the home side 5–0 ahead before the break.
A short injury stoppage followed before Wisher was replaced by Nikki Relton on 43 minutes, and Guiseley took a commanding 5–0 lead into half-time.
Second Half
Manager Jamie Sykes made several changes at the interval, introducing Jessica Brethrick, Sophie Fowler, and Ciara Meszaros in place of Evans, Alishba Khan and Fisher. The substitutions had an immediate effect — Fowler’s corner found Lambert, who powered home a header for her fourth goal of the afternoon (48’).
Harrogate began to find some rhythm and forced Suitcliffe into a couple of smart saves, but Guiseley continued to look dangerous on the break. Pringle got herself on the scoresheet in the 56th minute after a well-worked move, making it 7–0.
Guiseley maintained their dominance, with Gill orchestrating play from midfield and creating several more chances. Evans returned to the field in the 70th minute and looked lively, beating her marker repeatedly down the wing. She came close again late on, while Fisher also tested the keeper with a shot in the 79th minute.
Harrogate pushed forward in the final stages, but Harriet Sutcliffe preserved the clean sheet with a brilliant double save to cap off an excellent afternoon for the hosts.
