We can announce that Will Longbottom remains under contract with the club for the 2025/26 campaign.
The forward arrived from Bradford (Park Avenue) in May 2024 and went on to hit 26 goals in 43 appearances, finishing the season as our top scorer and won the Sponsors’ Player of the Season Award.
Will scored a variety of goals for the club last season including free kicks, long range spectaculars, penalty box tap-ins and won the league’s December Goal of the Month award for his strike against Whitby Town.
Longbottom’s 21 league goals also saw him finish the campaign as the fifth highest top scorer in the division. He scored the penalty that sealed our place in the play-offs with a win at Blyth Spartans and halved the deficit in the play-off final at Worksop after recovering from injury to feature in the final 11 games.
Memorable goals from the forward include the winner at Kidderminster Harriers in the Emirates FA Cup fourth round qualifying as well as the equaliser at Stevenage in the first round.
Speaking of his time at the club Longbottom said: “Playing under the Gaffer and Danny was a huge factor in me signing here: they gave me the freedom to go and play, to express myself on the pitch, and enjoy my football, which is something every player wants. From day one they put the trust in me and I’ve loved every minute of it playing under them both. I’m loving every minute of it. You can see the ambition of the club and how much it means to the fans so for me to be involved in this is great”
Will came through the ranks at Doncaster Rovers and made his senior debut for them before moving to Ireland for a short spell with Waterford. Whilst with Donny Longbottom had loan spells at Kidderminster Harriers, Halesowen and Gainsborough Trinity.
When the 26 year-old moved back to England he signed for Bradford (Park Avenue) before then moving on to Farsley Celtic. Longbottom then returned to the Horsfall Stadium and BPA for the 2023/24 season and then reunited with Mark Bower and Danny Boshell at Nethermoor a year ago.
Away from football Longbottom enjoys going to the gym and he and his partner Emily run an online coaching business.
More information on further players under contract and our full retained list will be announced in the coming days.
