Sam joined the club on 10th September 2024 and was named on the bench that evening in the win at Whitby Town.

Sam made his Lions debut in the Emirates FA Cup win over 1874 Northwich just a few days after signing.

Bentley won the Bantams’ Academy Player of the Season award at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Yeadon lad Sam had been with the Bantams for seven years working his way through their youth set up from the U13 age group.

He was rewarded with a professional contract for the 2023/24 season and has had loan spells with Ramsbottom United and Brighouse Town whilst with the League 2 side.

On 12th February 2025 Sam signed a one month loan deal with Brighouse Town and made his full debut later that evening.

On 20th February 2026, after missing a chunk of the season with a hamstring injury, Bentley signed a one month loan deal with Liversedge.

Whilst with Sedge he made five appearances and helped them to title glory and a promotion to the Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division.

Following the end of his loan Sam returned to Nethermoor.
