The Lions are back on the road this weekend, as they pay a visit to Warrington Town in what will be the first game since a managerial change, with Liam Ridehalgh in interim charge of the first team, writes Scott Kelly.
“They (the Ilkeston goals) were gift wrapped. Gifting those goals and missing the chances at the other end is a recipe for failure. We have some experienced players that aren’t producing what they are capable of”
Some strong words from boss Mark Bower in what was his final post-match interview following the 4-1 home defeat to Ilkeston Town. The club confirmed on Sunday morning that they had parted company with Bower and assistant Danny Boshell.
Team News
Liam Ridehalgh and Jake Wright are still doubts, with both likely weeks away from full fitness. Tom Senior, who celebrated his 19th birthday on Thursday, has seen his one-month loan come to an end following an injury picked up with his parent club.
Jay Buchan, John Lufudu, Jamie Spencer and Connor Ferguson will all be hoping for starting berths.
Taylor Bowen has also departed the club and Lewis Knight has signed a dual registration deal with Knaresborough Town, the latter remains available to selection to Liam Ridehalgh.

The Opposition
Warrington Town haven’t enjoyed the best of starts this campaign, following relegation from National League North. They sit inside the bottom three, with the only consolation being that they have two & three games in hand on those clubs around them.
Only one of their nine games so far were victories, the 1-0 home victory over Ilkeston on 19th August. Saturday’s clash is the first game at Cantilever Park in 40 days, with the 0-0 draw with Rushall on 9th September being the last game to take place there. They lost 2-1 at Stocksbridge last weekend, with the Sheffield side extending their gap to the Yellows to four points.
Some recent recruits include Niall Watson, who joined the club on loan from Hednesford Town last week. Defender Chris Doyle also joined last week after helping Marine to promotion from this division in 2023/24. Other squad members include Josh Vela, who just last season was playing in League Two for Carlisle United. Goalkeeper Liam Isherwood joined the club in the summer after departing Accrington Stanley. Striker Mark Isong is on loan from Bolton Wanderers and Jay Harris, now 38, operates in midfield.
They are managed by Paul Carden. The Liverpudlian took over in 2024. He is no stranger to the club having managed the club for five years from 2016-2021. Since then, he spent time as manager of AFC Telford United and Nantwich Town before returning to the Yellows last September.

Previous Meetings
The sides last met during the 22/23 season in this very league. Saturday’s hosts won 3-1 at Nethermoor in the league, with a 0-0 draw the following February in the reverse fixture.
Guiseley did win at Cantilever Park however in November 2022, with Lewis Whitham’s late goal giving the Lions a 1-0 triumph in an FA Trophy clash.
