Boss Ian Richards post-match thoughts after the Lions 3-1 victory at Rushall Olympic last weekend.

“I was really pleased about the third goal. We need to get more goals to take a bit of pressure off. Also to have a scoreline that reflected the performance”.

At 2-1 a game is always in the balance, and boss Ian Richards was delighted with Mo Fadera’s goal which secured victory.

“I thought Amir was the best player on the pitch today. His decision-making was very good. His all-round play was superb. We know the goals will come but he has contributed so much to the team today”.

Ian Richards full of praise for Amir Berchil, with many saying he was the best player on the pitch. Richards is hoping that very soon he will add goals to his game very soon.

“Our home form has been promotion form. We want to win our last two home games, get big crowds and get big wins for this football club”.

Two home games remaining for the Lions, beginning with Hyde. FC United of Manchester follow next Saturday. Richards is hoping for maximum points to end their season at home on a high. Guiseley have collected 29 points from 18 home matches, the 7th best home form in the league.

Team News

Richards confirmed that Kyle White was struggling with a calf problem prior to the Rushall game. He got through 85 minutes with Richards delighted with his contribution despite the issue.

George Goodman and goalscorer Mo Fadera will both be hoping for starting berths.

Will Longbottom and Jamie Spencer remain long-term doubts.

The Opposition

Saturday’s opposition have really struggled for consistent form after a 9th place finish last term, resulting in them struggling to retain their place in the Northern Premier League.

They remain just above the bottom three on goal difference heading into this weekend’s game off the back of a superb 3-0 victory at home to Stockton Town. That was only their second victory in 11 at home, with their away form also needing rectifying as soon as possible. Saturday’s visit to Nethermoor is followed by away games at Whitby and local rivals FC United to end the season. The Tigers are without a victory away in the league since October. If we are talking the number of games since then, that is 10 matches. Only Prescot and Morpeth have a worse away record than Hyde.

Michael Clegg was brought in as manager in late January to try and arrest the slide of a team that at the time that were winless in 11 matches, taking over from Martin Coyne. The former Macclesfield boss is being assisted by Jack Redshaw but has only won two of his 10 matches so far. Redshaw remains the sides top goalscorer with eight goals.

In some transfer news for the club, Antoine Makioli and goalkeeper Yusuf Mersin have recently said their goodbyes to the club. Harry Ditchfield has recently signed a new deal until the end of next season, with Scot Duxbury extending his loan from Bury until the end of the campaign.

One familiar face likely to play on Saturday is Reece Kendall. Full back Kendall recently joined the club from Tadcaster Albion after previously playing for Matlock and Bury. Kendall represented the Lions during the 23/24 season.

Previous Meetings

Guiseley haven’t lost to Hyde in their last five meetings, stretching back to 2023.

There have been three draws and two Lions victories since, with the most recent coming in the reverse fixture in August with a 2-0 victory in Greater Manchester. A piledriver from Joao Silva and a goal from John Lufudu settled the contest in the opening 13 minutes.
