The games come thick and fast for Mark Bower’s side as they travel North to face Northern Premier League newcomers Stockton Town on Wednesday evening, writes Scott Kelly.
Past Meetings
The sides have only met once previously, in an FA Cup Qualifier in 2019. The Lions won that one 1-0.
The Lions’ Team News
There were 12 debutants during the victory over Workington, with many of those making their second debut for the club. Boss Mark Bower has no fresh injury worries following the game, with Jake Wright and Lewis Whitham the only players definitely missing.
Academy product Sam Walters was introduced in injury time on Saturday and will be hoping to feature again this Wednesday. Jack Emmett also joined the club after a successful trial and the former Harrogate player will be hoping for more than just a cameo role when the Lions visit the Northeast.
Post Match Reaction From The Gaffer
Mark Bower spoke after the Workington victory and here is what was said:
“First half we struggled with to move the ball like I like us to. Having said that we hit the cross bar and had a goal disallowed. We obviously got the goal and felt we could’ve had a couple more come half time”
On Will Longbottom’s stunning free kick to put Guiseley in front:
“He’s finished it brilliantly. He has a few strings to his bow. He got the goal his performance probably deserved”
On Wednesday’s visit to Stockton:
“We’ve had them watched today so will get a report on them. We will put a plan together and try to get a good result. Always wary of playing teams that are newly promoted. Bit of an unknown but we will do as best as we can to prepare as best as we can”
