Guiseley travel to Cheshire to take on Macclesfield on Saturday with a win and a defeat from their opening two league matches, writes Scott Kelly.
Past Meetings
The Silkmen did the double over Guiseley in 23/24, winning 5-1 at the Leasing.com Stadium and winning 2-1 at Nethermoor in January 2024. Guiseley did win on this ground back in 2022 though, with Joe Ackroyd among the scorers in a 2-0 victory in the FA Trophy.
The Lions’ Team News
Guiseley did not have the best time last time out, falling to a 3-1 defeat at newly promoted Stockton Town.
Jack Emmett had an impressive cameo, playing just under half an hour and dispatching a John Lufudu cross late on to reduce the arrears. He will be looking for a start for this one.
The defeat on Wednesday could see Mark Bower make some changes with Ollie Brown, Adriano Moke and Gabriel Johnson all coming on in the game.
Post Match Reaction From The Gaffer
Mark Bower spoke after the Stockton Town defeat and here is what was said:
“We weathered a storm, had a series of corners. Reece had a great effort to put us in front. We then gave away a poor goal. The first two goals came from nothing.
On the controversial hand ball decision which handed Stockton their third:
“Jake’s arms are up. I thought their lad had handballed it first. I didn’t think it was a free kick that led the ball going into the box in the first place”
On Sam Walters signing first team terms at the club:
“Had a really good attitude and has decent quality. He is aggressive and strong and a great lad to have around the training ground. With a lot of games coming up he has to be ready to take his chance when it comes”
