Guiseley’s unbeaten run of 11 league games remains intact but will be hoping to end a run of consecutive draws with three points this weekend as Stockton Town visit Nethermoor, writes Scott Kelly.

Past Meetings
The Lions have won all of the previous three meetings against this opposition, including a 2-0 win in Nottingham back in October. A first half Will Longbottom brace secured the points that day. Longbottom will be looking to secure league goal number 20 this weekend.
They won 1-0, again in Nottingham in December 2023, and 2-1 at Nethermoor back in August 2023, with Gabriel Johnson and former Lion Tom Denton getting the goals.
Last Time Out
Workington 0-2 Guiseley
On what Is the club’s longest journey of the season, goals in either half from Ollie Brown – only his second ever career goal – and Will Longbottom secured the Lions victory on the road at Workington last Saturday.
An excellent team move saw Guiseley take the lead on 13 minutes as Liam Ridehalgh’s cross was met with a stooping header from Brown.
Ridehalgh secured a second assist with three minutes to play as the ball appeared to take an age to reach top goalscorer Longbottom – who grabbed his 19th league goal of the season – as he tapped home from close range, despite Workington protests that Steven Swinglehurst was hauled down in the build-up.
The goal was allowed to stand, and Guiseley remain 15 games unbeaten heading into this Saturday’s clash.
Post-Match With The Gaffer
“In the first half, some of the football we played was outstanding. We tore them to shreds”
Boss Mark Bower was delighted, particularly with the first half performance. He was a little critical though and thought his side should have been further in front at the break.
“That first that we scored, you won’t see better goals in the Premier League”.
An 18-pass move was finished off by Ollie Brown to put Guiseley in front, with the boss saying the choice of formation made the move and eventual finish possible.
“The first one is a dream cross. He showed what he is about. His professionalism and how fit he is”.
Bower says that Liam Ridehalgh was a massive part of ‘a really good team performance’ on Saturday – as the full back assisted both goals and was a big presence in the team.
“It wasn’t one of Will’s best, but it was still a hard-working display, and hard work gets you that goal at the end”.
Although not his best performance, Bower was still full of praise for Will Longbottom, who is one strike away from 20 league goals.
The Lions’ Team News
New loanee Harry Ibbitson is likely to make his first appearance for the club since signing from Bradford City.
Leo Farrell was injured in the New Years Day victory over Bamber Bridge, with the Barnsley loanee returning to South Yorkshire for treatment.
Gabriel Johnson could return after nursing a minor injury.
Lucas Odunston and Jake Wright will definitely miss out, with the former cheering the side on from the sidelines at Workington.
Basford United
Manager: Luke Potter
Stadium: Greenwich Avenue
Nickname: The Ambers
23/24 League Position: 18th
Luke Potter took over on a full-time basis from Martin Carruthers on Boxing Day after Carruthers tendered his resignation with the side in the relegation zone.
A change of manager has not seen a change in fortunes though. A 1-1 draw last time out against Gainsborough Trinity ended the Lions run of seven straight defeats in the league.
A 4-1 defeat at home to Eastleigh in the FA Trophy on 4th January ended their run in that competition too, with the club previously celebrating victories over teams higher up the pyramid. They first disposed of NLS club St Albans before penalties success over National League FC Halifax Town.
With only Blyth below them in the league table, time is quickly running out to save their season. 53 goals conceded in the league so far this term is a league high, but with things being so tight at the bottom, an unlikely victory here will likely take the Nottinghamshire out of the bottom four.
The Ambers recently re-signed a former club favourite in Brad Gascoigne, who has joined from Sherwood Colliery. Former Lion Jacob Gratton has also recently joined the club from Worksop Town. The Rotherham United academy graduate has scored in each of his last two appearances against the Lions but will likely be unfit to play this weekend.
Kevin Da Silva Bastos is another recent recruit and rejoined the Ambers after a spell playing in Kosovo. The tricky forward is likely to be available this weekend.
