Previous Meetings
Guiseley have lost just once against Stalybridge in eight games with the Lions only defeat coming in 2015 in the National League North at Nethermoor.
There last win against Stalybridge came in the reverse fixture of that season, in a 3-1 win for the Lions back in October 2014.
The reverse fixture this campaign finished in a goalless draw. Paul Phillips will be hoping his side can find the back of the net this time around against the Celts.
The Lions’ Form Book
Another loss last time out for Paul Phillips’ side mean the Lions have just one win from eight games and have lost three games in a row in the league.
They come into the game on the back of a 2-0 defeat away to Ashton United and will be looking to respond to that against Stalybridge on Saturday afternoon.
With just four games left to play this season, Phillips’ will be hoping to that his side can gain as many points as possible to attain a high finish in the league.
A Look At Stalybridge Celtic
Stalybridge Celtic are currently sat in the relegation zone of the Northern Premier Division, two points off safety.
Just one win in eleven games means Chris Willcock’s side are in need of a turn of fortunes if they are to stay in Step three of non-league football.
They come into this game off the back of a 1-4 defeat to Ashton United at home and will be hoping to respond at Nethermoor on Saturday afternoon.
Former Lion Raul Correia is the man to look out for. With ten goals in the league this season for the Celts, he’ll be hoping to add to that against his former club at the weekend.
A Look At The Lions
Paul Phillips will be without Benni Smales-Braithwaite who will miss the next three games after his red card at Ashton last week.
Andy Kellett is also unlikely to be fit for the clash with Stalybridge Celtic, but Isaac Assenso could be in contention.
Lewis Hey and Scott Bakkor returned to fitness as second half substitutes last week and could push for a start in this one.
Lewis Whitham is the only other long-term absentee
What Are They Saying?
Paul Phillips spoke to us after the defeat against Ashton United:
“We’ve probably had the better chances,” he said.
“We’ve got to put the ball in the net, we haven’t got enough players who put the ball in the net.
“I want to finish the season as high as possible.” – Paul Phillips
“We need to make sure we are stronger as a back four.
“But we’ve been on the front foot, we’ve had a right go against a team that is in form.
“It is deflating at the moment because we are at the end of the season, and we are not going to finish any higher or any lower.
“We’re in a build process.
“It hurts us that we are getting beat, but I don’t think you can lack the passion we have shown going forward.
He also spoke ahead of the Stalybridge game this weekend:
“I want a win,” he said.
“We prepare right, we train right.
“I want to finish the season as high as possible.
“The lads have got to show a bit of pride, they are playing for a big football club and one with a proud history and I’m managing that.
“We will build, and we’ll make sure we build from now.
