Previous Meetings

Tuesday night’s meeting at Nethermoor will be the first between the two sides.

The Lions’ Form Book

The Lions go into the game off the back of the first away defeat of the campaign on Tuesday night in the North East.

Last time out at Nethermoor though Danny Ellis’ side did pick up a win but are without a home league victory since picking up three points against Whitby Town in August.

A Look At Marske United

The Seasiders have had a good start to the campaign following their promotion last season.

They’re in 4th place with 11 points having picking up three wins, two draws and a defeat from their opening six league games.

Former Lion Adam Boyes will make his return to Nethermoor having scored a sensational volley last time out against Runcorn Linnets in the Emirates FA Cup.

A Look At The Lions

James Cadman made his debut on Tuesday night at the 1st Cloud Arena after signing a dual registration deal from Scarborough.

Nat Crofts also made his first start after a couple of impressive sub appearances.

Danny Ellis, who has named himself on the bench for the last two games, hopes to have full backs George Smith and Ethen Vaughan back available for Tuesday’s clash.

Jerome Greaves didn’t travel to South Shields after his hamstring injury and Andy Kellett is also likely to miss out after going off injured towards the end of the game.

What Are They Saying?

Speaking after Tuesday night’s narrow defeat at South Shields Danny Ellis said “I am so pleased for every player as they all did their part, we were disciplined, dangerous, played good football and created good chances. We limited them to very few opportunities which when you come here is a very hard thing to do, I thought we were excellent to a man and didn’t deserve to lose that game.”

“They were sharp and very good with the ball, we knew that and worked on it. The lads knew what to expect and stuck to their tasks brilliantly but it was a sickener to concede a goal in that manor at the end.”

“Jake Cassidy did really well, he chopped a couple of their lads who fell on the floor and then chopped another lad but he hit it at the keeper and is frustrated with himself. I though he was outstanding, as were the whole team, we have created chances and we looked solid.”

“They had pace up front and we just thought leaving it as three we were a bit exposed down the sides but when went to a four it tightened that up.”

“I am gutted for Andy Kellett, it looks like it is has hamstring injury so he will be out for a few weeks. George Smith also has an hamstring injury and both him and Ethen Vaughan were out today.”

“I said to Andy that he would need to do me a job at left back and he said he had played there and that it wasn’t a problem and he did it outstandingly so credit to him.”

“I used to play with James Cadman at Harrogate a few years ago. He was a young lad then, he has bags of energy and quality and loves to get on the ball. He is a great lad to have around, I am delighted to have him on board with us.”

“I would say that was our best performance of the season so far, for the full 90 minutes we were very good in all departments, defensively we looked strong, in midfield they were disciplined in terms of when they haven’t got the ball. As an overall performance that is definitely up there with the best so far.”

“Luke Dean was on the edge of the box and was coming in for second balls, he rifled it through a crowd of bodies and its flown in. I thought it was coming just before half-time, we applied a lot of pressure particularly on set pieces and we looked dangerous on corners. On another day we come here and get a win but today it is not to be. It was a great goal from Luke.”

“I am hoping George will be available, we’ll see how he is, hopefully we can get the full backs back in but we will just have to wait and see.”

Goalscorer Luke Dean also spoke to Ivor Timmis after the loss “It was a good game with a fast tempo, I thought we did well and obviously they are a good team so we had to keep our shape and be organised really.”

“Finishing isn’t my strongest point, I just try and get on the edge of the box and get shots off. I got my head over the ball and had a clean strike, it went through a few players, I am buzzing to get my first goal.”

“I thought we did really, really well. We had a suckerpunch with the opening goal but it worked well for Jake Cassidy having Nat Crofts and John Johnston supporting him. I thought we had a lot of chances to be fair, on another day it could have been three of four so we have to take the positives.”

Tickets for the game with Marske United can be purchased at the turnstiles on the night with cash payment only or online in advance here.
