What Are They Saying?
Speaking after Saturday’s 1-3 victory over Belper Town, assistant manager Danny Forrest said “Our best games this year have come from starting well, taking it to teams and trying to start quickly”
On Nicky Walker’s goal: “When you’ve got players in your team like Nicky with that little bit of quality, you always fancy him to hit the target and work the keeper. It was a good strike.”
“Going 2-0 up in a game gives you a really good chance of taking a point.”
On Callum Chippendale’s penalty: “We saw Chippy’s quality in training, the technique he’s got, the composure and confidence, he was an obvious choice”
“Once he (Mohammad Qasim)gets one-on-one in the penalty area he’s dangerous, he’s gone and got a goal five minutes after half time, takes the sting out of them a little bit”
“Jake’s (Cassidy) injury was nothing too sinister, he’s felt it for the last two to three weeks, it’s nothing too bad”
Speaking about the need for consistency, Forrest said: “You’ve got to be consistent and that’s what we’re after. After the first 9-10 games, we felt we needed a few changes. Hopefully you can see we’re trying to change things.”
“You might see consistency in team selections and nail down an 18 that we’ll work from. That’s key because there’s a lot of changes.”
“You have to work it out and you have to find a formula. We’re heading in the right direction, but I’m not one to get too far ahead.”
Commenting on Tuesday: “George Smith is nearly there, we want to make sure we’re getting him right, so I don’t think they’ll be any rush.
“In the short term, I don’t envisage any of them really (returning)”
Callum Chippendale also spoke to us after the victory at Belper: “ I’m confident, I wanted it (the penalty) to get up and running for Guiseley, so I’m pleased.”
“It’s always good to play FC, they bring a good crowd. We’ve got to be confident going into it and believe we can get another win”
