Previous Meetings
The two last met, competitively, in the National League back in 2018, when a Kayode Odejayi strike contributed to a 1-1 draw at Nethermoor Park.
The Lions last beat Halifax back in 2015, when a Will Hatfield goal and Liam Dickinson penalty ensured the three points against the Shaymen in the fifth tier of English football.
It is the first competitive meeting between the two sides for over four years, and with the Lions being the lower league side, they will look to cause an upset in the weekend’s Isuzu FA Trophy games.
The Lions’ Form Book
A 90th minute winner from Lewis Whitham gave the Lions all three points in a crucial game against Morpeth Town.
The win takes Paul Phillips’ side up to 15th, moving above Morpeth in the bottom half.
It is also the Lions’ first clean sheet since the end of August and will look to take a strong defensive display into Tuesday’s game.
After the fixture against Marine last weekend was postponed, this will be the Lions’ first game in two weeks, in the first of two consecutive games at Nethermoor Park.
A Look At FC Halifax Town
National League side FC Halifax Town are on a relatively good run of form of late, having won three of their last five games, including a 1-0 victory over 3rd placed Chesterfield.
The Shaymen currently sit 10th in Step One, two points off the play-off spots.
Emmanuel Dieseruvwe is the one to watch for Halifax, with seven goals to his name this season, whilst Robert Harker also has four goals to his name, with two of those coming in his last four games.
Chris Millington’s side will be aiming to repeat their feat of winning the competition back in 2016, with the Lions being their next barrier on Tuesday night.
A Look At The Lions
Ross Daly, Callum Chippendale and Jameel Ible could all make successive starts following their return to the side last time out.
Paul Phillips could also give starts to Adam Haw and Keegan Hartley who both made an impact as second half substitutes against Morpeth Town two weeks ago.
Charlie Wood and Spencer Harris are both doubts but Nicky Walker could be available for selection again on Saturday, as the Lions look to progress to the next round.
New signings Zak Dearnley and Cam Mason are ineligible after playing for Liversedge and Southport respectively earlier on in the competition.
Tickets for the game with FC Halifax Town can be purchased at the turnstiles on the night with cash payment only or online in advance here. Don’t forget to pick up a matchday programme for just £3, it is packed full with exclusive content with what you will find inside here.
