The Lions are back on the road on Saturday for the penultimate away game of the season against Kidderminster, Benjamin Goldie previews the game.
Previous Meetings
The last time The Lions played Kidderminster was at the start of the season on the 4th September 2021 at home. This game saw two incredibly evenly matched opponents with the stats showing possession was evenly shared throughout the game, however it also showed that Guiseley were able to create more opportunities that their opposition as despite possession being evenly shared with Guiseley getting 13 shots in the match where as the Harriers only took 11.
If The Lions do the same and create more opportunities this Saturday, the players are bound to capitalise on this as they will know how important a win is for the club.
The Lions’ Form Book
The Lions form this month has had people feeling ambivalent as we have had picked up five points out of a possible 21 but it must be noted that the last two games against Bradford (Park Avenue) and Curzon Ashton have seen vast improvement as they are conceding less goals and putting more in the back of the net.
The Lions’ game last Saturday against Curzon Ashton showed Guiseley are still very much alive with goals from Adam Haw and Dom Tear however they just fell short of victory in the second half where Curzon Ashton were just able to cling on to a draw.
As this was our most recent affair, it shows that Guiseley have a fighting chance of victory and to stay in the league they deserve to be in.
A Look at Kidderminster Harriers
Although Kidderminster currently hold 4th in the table and this may be a worrying sight, their recent form has been a lot poorer than it has been throughout the season. In the last three games that they have played they have only been able to achieve three points which suggests their form is becoming worst towards the end of the season.
The Importance of This Match
For Guiseley this match could very well be the make or break of their survival in the National League North. They currently sit t the bottom of the table however there is a still a fighting chance the Lions can survive.
They currently have 32 points in the league and are only effectively three points away from safety as Telford are on 34 points but have a better goal difference. If The Lions can win this Saturday and Telford lose it will mean that Guiseley are off the bottom spot.
High Hopes
Having spoken to some Lions fans many feel optimistic about the game on Saturday. The most people I have spoken to predict that Guiseley will win with the score line ending on 2-1. All supporters will hope these predictions of a Guiseley victory will become a reality as they will want to see the their club remain in the Vanarama National League North.
